Introduction

Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Center for
Research and Consultation Studies.
The vision of Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Center for Research and Consultation Studies is to be a local and national leader in basic applied research directed towards diseases prevalent in the Eastern Province, to develop medical therapies to improve the health of the population, and to continue towards the training of local scientists and clinicians in order to fulfill the objectives of University of Dammam and the 5-Year National Plan. The major function of Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Center for Research and Consultation Studies is to provide an optimal environment for the performance of highly innovative basic and clinical research directed toward improving the health of the population of the Eastern Province and adjacent areas. The Center will support the mission of the College of Medicine and other Health Colleges at University of Dammam through applied research, training, and educational programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Center for Research and Consultation Studies was established to advance research and to contribute towards the enhancement of health services in the area. There is no similar center in the Eastern Province, which makes Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Center for Research and Consultation Studies a unique center.
With the completion of the human genome, the tremendous advancements in the science of molecular biology, and the expansion of stem cell research it is vital that such a center keeps up with these advancements so as to be at the forefront of scientific research. Therefore, in line with this, University of Dammam can utilize the potential of its scientists, clinicians and researchers in the most productive and beneficial way to meet the objectives of the Kingdom's 5-Year National Plan.
